Trying to understand the opioid epidemic

For my own benefit, I’ve decided to start a page with links, articles and comments on the opioid epidemic.  The first article below is from the New Yorker, and it tells how Purdue Pharma introduced OxyContin in 1995, and it sold this opiate as a non-addictive opiate painkiller.  OxyContin has been the gateway to greater and greater opiate abuse by so many people.  Remember, that in 2017, about 150 Americans are dying every day from this crisis.
